MellowpanBot

MellowpanBot is the recipe fetcher behind Mellowpan, a household meal planning app made by Wytun LLC. It reads public recipe pages only when someone using Mellowpan asks for a recipe.

When it visits

When someone saves a recipe link into Mellowpan, we read that page. When someone asks Mellowpan for a recipe idea, we read a few of the pages a web search returns for that request. We do not follow links, read sitemaps or crawl a site to build an index.

What it reads

The recipe on the page: its title, ingredients, steps, timing and photo, usually from the recipe markup the page already publishes. Recipes found through a search show their source and link back to the original page.

How to recognise it

Requests carry MellowpanBot/1.0 and a link to this page in the user agent. Pages are read as a phone sees them first, so the user agent may also name a mobile browser.
