Mix the flour and salt, then pour in 1 cup of the water and start kneading.

Step 2:
If the dough is still not coming together or is too dry, gradually add the remaining water until you have a very elastic dough that does not tear when pulled.
-
Step 3:
Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.

Step 4:
Divide the dough into 6 to 8 balls, depending on the size you want for the feteer.
-
Step 5:
Warm the butter or oil you are using and pour it into a deep bowl.
-
Step 6:
Immerse the dough balls in the warm butter mixture.
-
Step 7:
Let the dough balls rest for 15 to 20 minutes.
15–20 min -
Step 8:
Preheat the oven to 550°F.
-
Step 9:
Stretch the first ball with your hands on a clean countertop as thin as possible, until you can see the countertop through the dough.
-
Step 10:
Fold the dough over itself to form a square, brushing the butter mixture between the folds.
-
Step 11:
Set aside and begin the next ball.
-
Step 12:
Stretch the second ball thin, as you did the first ball.
-
Step 13:
Place the first folded dough in the middle of the second dough, seam side down.
-
Step 14:
Fold the outer dough over it, brushing with more butter mixture as you fold. Set aside.
-
Step 15:
Repeat with the third and fourth balls. Place the finished feteer in a 10-inch baking or pie dish, seam side down, and brush the top with more butter.
-
Step 16:
Repeat with the remaining 4 balls to make a second feteer.
-
Step 17:
Lightly press each folded feteer with your hands to spread it in the baking dish.
-
Step 18:
Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. When the feteer starts puffing, turn on the broiler to brown the top.

Step 19:
When done, add a little butter on top and cover so it does not dry out.
