Step 2:
Add the flour, salt, and vegetable oil to the yeast mixture.

Step 3:
Knead with the dough hook for about 5 minutes, until a smooth dough forms.
5 min -
Step 4:
Remove the dough from the mixer bowl and shape it into a ball. Lightly mist the bowl with oil and return the dough ball to the bowl.
-
Step 5:
Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 to 1½ hours, until doubled in size.
-
Step 6:
Heat the vegetable oil in a pot to 180°C / 350°F. Set a drying rack over a paper-towel-lined sheet pan, or prepare a plate lined with paper towels, for draining.
-
Step 7:
When the oil is at temperature, use a cookie scoop or two regular tablespoons to shape portions of dough into rough balls and carefully place them in the oil. Do not overcrowd the pot.
-
Step 8:
Fry the doughnuts for about 1 minute on each side, turning halfway through. Drain on the prepared rack or paper towels.

Step 9:
Let the doughnuts cool slightly, then sprinkle with powdered sugar.
